Get ready for a holiday season like no other as Jack Black teams up with the Farrelly Brothers (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary) for the new Christmas comedy “Dear Santa”. The film, which premieres on Paramount+ on November 25, 2024, follows a young boy who accidentally summons Satan instead of Santa Claus after misspelling the big guy’s name on his letter.
In the movie, Jack Black plays Satan, who is flattered by the mistake and decides to meet the young boy, Liam Turner (Robert Timothy Smith). As the two become fast friends, they get into all sorts of wacky hijinks, including a performance at a Post Malone concert and a visit to the class pet’s enclosure.
According to director Bobby Farrelly, the film is a family-friendly comedy that is more akin to “Elf” than “Bad Santa”. “We never wanted to make it a horror movie or something like that,” Farrelly told Entertainment Weekly. “We wanted it to be comical. So it was a delicate ball of playing this iconic character but doing it in a way that the audience can have some fun with it. And Jack was the perfect guy.”
The film also stars Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, PJ Byrne, Jaden Carson Baker, Kai Cech, and Austin Post.
